busdriver 02:34
another day of false spring, another ruined attempted, to burn out all of what's left of last winter. Long afternoons outside the blind man's library where buses stand waiting for people to come and fill them full, singing "busdriver please take me home." no the work ain't so hard but it's killing me. slowly and silently. I still can't believe how you make me feel, so much more alive just to think of you. now it's getting pretty hard to picture you but I try all the time, yeah I try all the time.
2.
you keep your perfect little lies and perfect little secrets, telling ugly precious stories to your ugly friends. they're oblivious you're just cracking up. you can lie and say you're alright, you're falling in the streets. things went wrong cause now i'm living on my own. I drink hard but it doesn't help much anymore. making promises to never go back home. just to prove them wrong. i'll give you one last chance to flash your vicious smile. this discomfort cost a fortune, I hope it was worth your while.
3.
dead inside 04:01
when all you have clutched to your chest are crumpled receipts of adventures and love affairs, long since spent. your memories clink like loose change in your pocket, you count em up all the time, they're never worth nothing. why do you keep them around? they just leave you dead inside. it's a particular sort of hell trying to belong to a world that never asked for you, and even though you hate it, there's nowhere else to go. so you run to the places and things, that used to move you long before you were so embittered towards life. when you were still young and terrified.
4.
there are no friends in this war. accidents planned and paid for. flawlessly executed without the least bit of hesitation. are you ready to be somebody? doubts and suspicions tugging at your sleeve. dumbed down and restless, it's getting hard to breathe. when we grow weak from exhaustion you'll be there to put us down. you think you're fooling someone with all the empty expressions that run across your pretty face? if looks could kill, it would've been murder the first time I said your name. there are no friends in this war, just another countdown to escape. so don't ask me where i'm going it's none of your concern. mind your business boy. it's none of your concern.
5.
I don't feel the least bit ungrateful for the many things given and taken. you've taught me many words to curse with, and you've given ten fingers to hurt with. but do you really hear anyone anymore or is it silent where you are? (all the promises that I could never keep, all the things I wished for before I fell asleep, all those secret prayers fell on deaf ears). my full recovery was a walk on broken legs, collapsed and folded up pain spread across this face. I hope you see it all and I hope you feel my fall. it would be good to know you care.

about

I love this recording. The process was 100% democratic, we were practiced so tight. May well be my finest moment composition wise. Definitely the best production and collaboration.
